Raja Jayaraman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at New Mexico State University. His research adopts a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex engineering problems, drawing on systems engineering, optimization, operational excellence, and digital transformation. His work focuses on applications in supply chains, multimodal logistics, manufacturing, maintenance planning, and healthcare delivery. ...

Dr. Jayaraman has over 18 years of academic experience across India, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, and teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in supply chain and logistics, optimization, stochastic models, systems engineering, and quality management. To date, Dr. Jayaraman’s scholarly contributes include 40+ refereed conference proceedings, 170+ journal articles in top-tier, high impact journals, including Annals of Operations Research, IISE Transactions, Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Omega, Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Technology in Society, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, among others.

Dr. Jayaraman is the author and editor of multiple books and edited volumes on topics covering Industry 4.0, Operational Excellence, and the integration of artificial intelligence and operations research. His recent work include Industry 4.0: Research and Practice (World Scientific, Singapore, 2025), Operational Excellence for the Public Sector: a practical guide for senior executives (World Scientific, Singapore, 2025), Operational Excellence Case Studies in Higher Education Institutions (Emerald Publishing, UK, 2025), Forging Bridges between Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research: Applications in Healthcare and Supply Chain Management (Springer, 2025).

Dr. Jayaraman has been recognized in the Elsevier–Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists list for four consecutive years (2022 to 2025) in the subject categories Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence, and Information & Communication Technologies. Dr. Jayaraman serves on the IISE Society for Engineering and Management Systems (SEMS) Board of Directors, senior member of IISE, and a member of INFORMS, and currently serves as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management and an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Lean Six Sigma.
