What do Industrial Engineers do?
Industrial Engineers (IE) apply engineering methods, mathematics and science to design and develop complex systems in industries such as Manufacturing, Financial, Entertainment, and Healthcare. IE’s need to have knowledge and skills in a wide variety of disciplines and need to work well with people along with having a systems-level view. They work to allocate resources of people, equipment, software, and other needs to achieve an organization’s goals. They use computer modeling, statistics, design, planning, people skills, and financial knowledge.
IE’s study systems like production facilities, materials handling systems, workplaces, supply chain systems and business systems. They work across organizations to create and manage solutions to improve production, schedules, uses of facilities and product quality.
